Hi Chris,
Thank you fopr sharing your post.
What, in your opinion, would be the best approach for tutors to be more interested and educated on the Eastern artists? It is great point that sometimes tutors cannot advice as good as they lack knowledge in that specific field. Of course, student could explain to tutors, but I believe that sometimes they chose not to.
I am glad to see that you gave LCC some suggestions on adding other religious celebrations to the annual timelines for the new LCC building. What was the answer regarding that and what departments are responsible for this? I would love to offer this to the LCF as well.
Hi Gabriele, Thank you for your comments. The answer I was given is a vague ‘it might be possible in the new building’. I understand the limitations in our current building make this very challenging, and the greater flexibility we will have in terms of gallery spaces across the road means there’s definitely scope for this. I think the bigger issue is this idea of changing mindsets. Physical space and logistical considerations are, I think the easier part. Encouraging course teams to adapt a model where we need to offer alternatives (whilst still ensuring parity/ quality processes) will be a different way of working. I have had initial conversations with our SMT around a task and finish group to get all the key stakeholders together. What I think is important to define what counts as a religious celebration/ festival ? I can see potential conflict and disagreement regarding what the potential scope might be.
